What They Are

13:58

Neuromorphic chips received their particular name because they are modelled after biological brains. Our brains use billions of neurons and trillions of synapses to respond to sensory inputs, and neuromorphic chips are being developed to try and mimic this process. Neuromorphic chips are different from traditional chips such as those used by Apple and Samsung because they are used for applications that are rich in visual or auditory data and allow a machine to adjust its behaviour as it interacts with the world. Traditional chips on the other hand, are used for anything that can be reduced to a numerical problem.
